Lassen Volcanic National Park – June 2013

Lassen Volcanic Park - Cinder Cone Approach via Rainbow Lake

View from the peninsula on Snag Lake, Lassen Volcanic National ParkI sure didn’t capture it by camera, but the Cinder Cone at Lassen Volcanic National Park, the painted dunes around it, and a beautiful campsite on Snag Lake made for a great weekend hike. I’ve never seen anything like the iridescent dunes and they along with the views of the snow-covered peaks where great. Heck, I even liked the dusty, sun-baked slog up the cone.

The mosquitos were out in force a short way above the Twin Lakes, but the breezes on the peninsula at Snag Lake kept them at bay.

This is definitely a place worth revisiting!
